Toothache occurs suddenly and unexpected and has very strong impact. It usually occurs in the middle of the night when we sleep or when we are miles away from the nearest dentist. There is a great homemade remedy for treating this uncomfortable pain. The remedy works quickly and as an antiseptic and anesthetic.

The solution for this unpleasant tooth pain lies in clove. It is a spice with sweet taste that has numerous medicinal properties. Clove is very powerful anesthetic, antiseptic and contains eugenol which stops the pain, clean the oral cavity and can be used to remove bad breath. There are three ways through which you can get rid of toothache using cloves, depending on what kind of clove you have at home.

  • Powdered clove – Make a solution consisted of half a teaspoon of salt and warm water. Rinse your mouth with the mixture. Take a pinch of powdered close and apply it onto the gum where your tooth hurts. Wait a little bit before the clove starts to act.

  • Whole clove – Rinse your mouth with a mixture of warm water and half a teaspoon of salt. Take 2 to 3 cloves and place them in your mouth, close to the ill tooth. Wait for the cloves to soften. Chew the softened cloves slowly and wait for the essential oils to start acting.

  • Clove oil – You will need clove oil, olive oil and a swab. Make a solution using warm water and half a teaspoon of salt. Gargle with the mixture in order to rinse your whole mouth. This way you will prepare the gums to absorb the oil. Mix several clove oil drops with one tablespoon of olive oil. Use the swab to apply the mixture onto the affected area. Make sure you apply little pressure with the soaked swab onto the gums. This is maybe the most effective clove remedy against toothache.

Keep in mind that this is just a quick and short-term relief of pain. Do not postpone the visit to the dentist, eat less salt and mild food and wash your teeth regularly.
