Even though the fridge is an appliance that maintains ingredients fresh and healthy, not every ingredient tastes good if stored in the refrigerator.
Some ingredients lose their taste and have reduced shelf life. Here are the four ingredients you probably store in the fridge but you should not.
1. Tomato
If you keep tomatoes in the refrigerator, they will lose their flavor and will fade. Experts say it is best to keep tomatoes in a plastic bag at room temperature. If you want tomatoes to ripen, store it in a paper bag.
2. Potato
Cold temperature destroys potato’s taste. This is why you should store this vegetable in dark and dry area, but not at temperature similar to room temperature.
3. Onion
Onions should be stored at room temperature in a mesh bag. It is important to note that you should not keep it near potatoes because they release gases and accelerate the rotting process.
4. Garlic
Same as onion, garlic should also be kept in mesh bag at room temperature.
